- Deal 5 green line (letter) cards to each player.
- Place the BLIP! card in the center of the table.
- Flip the top card of the blue line (word) deck face up.
- Gather a number of small objects (e.g., coins) equal to the number of letters in the face-up word card, and arrange them in a row to represent letter slots.
- Make sure each player has a piece of paper and a pencil.
- Agree on a dictionary to use for verifying spelling and validity of words.
Playing the Game
- The dealer goes first.
- On your turn, place one letter card from your hand onto any empty slot. If the letter is correct for that position in the word, you may claim points for that letter.
Example: If the word is “APPLE” and you place an A in the first slot, you can claim points for the letter A. - Draw a new letter card from the green line deck, then flip the BLIP! card from its facedown (gray) side to its face-up (red) side to end your turn.
- BLIP! Phase: Before the next player starts, any other player may shout “BLIP!” to:
- Point out any additional words or letters the previous player overlooked.
- Challenge any word that seems misspelled or invalid.
- If the BLIP! challenge is valid, the challenger may claim those letters or words for points.
- Next Player’s Turn: The next player flips the BLIP! card facedown to begin their turn. They then place a letter card from their hand onto any slot that is not already correctly filled.
Example: You cannot place another A on an A slot already deemed correct for “APPLE,” but you can replace any incorrect letter with a new letter. - Repeat this cycle until the entire word is correctly spelled.

Allowed: Contractions (e.g., “don’t,” “can’t,” etc.). - You may shout “BLIP!” as many times as you want before the next player flips the BLIP! card facedown.
